Today was such a fun day!!! BYU was playing football against
Wyoming, so Seth and I put on our “Repping the Y’s “ shirts and went to his
dads to watch it with the family. First half was really slow and the second one
was really good, especially the 4th quarter when Wyoming was really
close to score and beat BYU but this BYU guy (freaking beast) got an interception
and made us all happy by winning!!!
Here are the days of “Light the World” challenge:
Jesus Forgave
Others, and So Can You!
The concept of forgiveness is a very difficult one. It is
not that easy to forgive at times. A lot of times we feel offended or wronged
by someone and feel that the anger and resentment that we feel is justified. It
is this type of thinking, though, that can sometimes take us to a place where
we do not want to be. The Lord has commanded us that he will give whom he will
forgive but for us it is required to forgive everyone. When we do not forgive
others we harbor these very negative feelings within our heart and it does not
feel good. In order for us to let go of the pain and suffering that we may have
incurred we must truly forgive those that have wronged us. We must forgive and
forget. The last part of that can often be the hardest. Forgetting what someone
has done to us can often be a very daunting task. I think that it would be much
easier if the little memory wipe things from Men in Black were actually real
lol. We must instead do the hard work that comes with forgiveness. The best way
for us to accomplish this is through the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
During the experiences of the Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the
cross, Jesus experienced all that each and every one of us experiences in this
life and paid the price for our sins. Because of this great act of
selflessness, we can draw power from the atonement and our Savior in order to
do much more than we would normally be able to. This enabling power can help us
to forgive others and forget their transgressions even when they seem unforgivable. It has helped me a lot to forget and that when I pray to God for
the strength to forgive it has been easier for me to interact with those people
that have wronged me. I have a strong testimony that we can do anything with
the help of God and His Son’s Atonement. In the end, it is all worth it. The
feelings of love and happiness can truly enter our hearts and our lives when we
forgive others. An incredible example of this is in a video that I recently
watched about a man and his process to forgive the man that killed his family.
He talks about how it is good that God gives us trials in this life not that
they are easy and quick but because they help us grow our faith and come closer
to Christ. You should all watch it here.
Jesus Saw Potential In Others and So
Can You! Dec 20th
Yesterday
I tried to be positive and started listing a lot of good qualities of some people
around me that I met during the day. Something else that Seth and I did, was
learning about our divine potential. We read the talk by Richard G. Scott called:
“Realize you full potential”. I want to share that by saying that we have the
potential to become like our Heavenly Parents. This, we only understand better, when we
understand our Heavenly Father. I really like when Elder Scott says: “With all my capacity I encourage you to discover who you
really are. … I urge you to discern through the Spirit your divinely given capacities”,
because it encourage us to see more than just who we are or who we think we
are, and we can do this by letting the Spirit guide us.
